Satish will produce the upcoming project and is currently looking for a director to direct the film. Speaking of the same, in an interaction with Mumbai Mirror, the 62-year-old actor-filmmaker said: "I bought the film rights because it's an unusual and hard-hitting story. My hands are full of acting mandates at the moment, so I will not direct it. "
Besides Vikram and Suriya, Pithamagan also played the role Principal in the lead roles Sangeetha and Laila Mehdin. The plot of the film is based on Nandhavanathil Oru Andi, Jayakanthan, the story of a funeral director.
The film was very popular with critics and the public. Vikram even won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role as one of the two protagonists of the film.
However, this is not the first time that Pithamagan is redone in another language. In 2004, the film was dubbed in Telugu and published under the name of Sivaputrudu . In 2007, it was redone in Kannada with the title, Anatharu .
