KOCHI: An IFC chief was stabbed to death and two others were injured in an attack allegedly by members of a pro-Islamic group in a college here, police said today. hui.

They were allegedly attacked by Campus Front workers and their parent organization, the Popular Front of India (PFI), inside the Maharaja College, Ernakulam, on the campus last night.

The condition of one of the injured students is considered serious.

Three IFP and Campus Front workers were taken into custody as part of the incident, police said.

The Students Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the CPI (M), today called for a national protest against the killing of Abhimanyu (20) ).

The SFI leader, a second-year college student, resided in Vattavada in Idukki District and was also a member of the Idukki District Committee.

The body was kept at the morgue of the general hospital of Ernakulam.

Police suspect that problems between student activists on the use of college walls led to the attack.

P Rajeev, member of the CPI State Secretariat (M) and former Rajya Sabha MP, condemned the attack on the IFC workers and called it "planned" by forces of "extremist nature".

"We have not heard of such an odious attack against student activists in recent times: all progressive forces should be fighting against such extremist organizations," said Rajeev, former District Chief of Ernakulam District. .
