Shah Rukh Khan-starrer of Aanand L Rai Zero arrived on Netflix five months after its theatrical release – but with one crucial difference.
The main roles being Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, the film landed in movie theaters on December 21st. The version released on Netflix on Monday has a new introduction, which lays the foundation for the pbadage of the film to the second part drama. It begins with a two-minute voice-over by Sharma, who presents a chimpanzee that will be sent to Mars by her character, a space scientist with cerebral palsy. Sharma's Aafia also alludes to his romance with the movie's hero, Vertical Challenge, Bauua (Khan), and his subsequent betrayal.
The theatrical plot began with a dreamlike sequence of Bauua in which he rescued a damsel in distress from two henchmen led by her father (Tigmanshu Dhulia).
Zero revolves around Bauua's love affair with Aafia and troubled actress Bably Kumari (Katrina Kaif), culminating in a journey to Mars. Made with an estimated budget of Rs. 200 crore, the film suffered box office losses and was criticized by critics.
