Shawn Mendes brings warmth – and his sensual new single – to Saturday Night Live for his final tour on the stage of Studio 8H
Saturday night (May 4) Mendes, to a shirt in slightly unbuttoned black satin, interpreting "If I Can not Have You," his first taste of new music since the fall of his eponymous LP of 2018. "If I Can not You You" is bursting with the latest in music. Cozy atmospheres straight out of a 90s dance floor, and Mendes was beaming as he was going through all the huge notes of the track.
Serious tonal change with "In My Blood", which allowed him to start playing solo piano before seizing his guitar for a dramatic finish that resembled the grand finale of a stadium show. It was a similar (and effective!) Approach to the last appearance of Mendes on SNL when he badociated a piano-driven "Mercy" with the very optimistic "Treat You Better" for his debut in the series in 2016.
