This case has left a deep impact in the minds of all Indians, especially women. Being part of the series devoted to the subject can be overwhelming for the actors. The actress Shefali Shah spoke. India Today Digital on how she was touched and whose work on the series changed her thinking about the incident that shook the country in 2012.

Excerpts:

Such Stories have a profound impact on the actors. it's easy to leave the character once the camera and lights on
This is never easy. When we shoot for Delhi Crime, we never cut or could go home. And, I do not say physically, go home to Bombay. I'm just saying in your mind and you just want to keep working on it and especially on something like that, which has so much material. And emotionally, there is no other way to address a character. Leave that alone, which required something else. There is no other way to create something without being involved. This case (Nirbhaya case) touched us all. That left all of us with a scar.

The Nirbhaya affair sparked a lot of anguish and anger among people in 2012. What were your thoughts at the time and what did it change after the crime? from Delhi?
was anger, there was anguish, frustration, disappointment and there was pain, just as everyone felt. The emotion was universal, I suppose, and the question was why no one was doing anything about it. When I read Delhi Crime, I realized that someone had acted on it and that they were working very hard. It was not just the DCP, but the team, they worked very hard to get those guys. They did not do it because they wanted a medal or a recognition. They did it because it was their way of releasing their anxiety.

Shefali Shah in a Delhi crime still.

Digital media is on the rise in India and also opens avenues for actors. Your thoughts.
Digital media opens up new horizons for all creators, be they writers, directors or actors. This is not limited to the movie box where there was a hero and a heroine. Here, there are characters and each character is of equal importance. There is an honesty and commitment to the narrative, the characters and not the power of an actor or the collection of wickets that could affect the director's creativity. And, to reach 119 countries in one night when the show falls, it's amazing!

From Arohan to Delhi Crime, what was the course?
Like every actor, I am a gourmand. I want to do a good job, something that strikes me. I do not have much work on my resume, but I am extremely proud of the type of work I have. Earlier, it bothered me because I was not getting the kind of work I wanted to do. Like Delhi, the crime took me 5000% because I wanted to give it to him and that is why it worked. I do not just want to go to work because I have nothing better to do. I love my job too much. I like this process, so it must really make me want to go there. And these last two years, it has been so amazing because what I believe and what I expected is finally happening. There was Juice (short film), Once Once Again, a love story, and then Delhi Crime. It's like wow and that's what I've worked for. Once Again was completely different from what I did. It was so poetic and so romantic.
