BENGALURU: For nearly 10 years, 55-year-old Siddalinga Mahaswami has been the de facto leader of the richest dogs in Karnataka.

On Monday, following the death of 111-year-old Shivakumar Swamiji, Siddalinga Mahaswami will officially take over the reins of the eminent mutad Lingayat Siddaganga in Tumakuru.

Siddalinga Mahaswami, the "original seer", was an ardent supporter of Shivakumar Swamiji and had even completed his studies in the popular institutions of Siddaganga mutt.

Siddalinga Mahaswami is called Vishwanatha, her maiden name. He was born of Sadasivaiah and Sivarudramma in Magadi on July 22, 1963.

His sacred name comes from Yediyuru Siddalingeshwara, deity of a temple in Kunigal.

He completes his primary education in Kanchugal Bandemath, his birthplace, and finishes high school at Degulamath Kanakapura.

Siddalinga Mahaswami is the de facto leader of the Siddaganga mutt.

While studying in high school, Mahalinga Swamiji, of Kanakapura, asked his parents to send him to Sree Siddaganga Gurukula High School where he Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamiji and stayed in the old premises of Mutt.

He began to learn Sanskrit and also continued his college education at Mutt.

Siddalinga Swamiji completed her undergraduate studies and later her Master of Arts, majoring in economics.

During the same period, he also enters the spiritual education system of the dog and after his studies, enters full time in the services of Shivakumar swamiji.

On January 26, 1988, he enters the virakthashrama in the pure tradition of Sree Siddaganga Math.

In the mid-1980s, Gowrishankara Swamiji, a young clairvoyant of the time, had gone through a period of turbulence, and the mutts were mixed with controversies over the diversion and theft of resources.

In 1988, Gowrishankar Swamiji was expelled from the Siddaganga pooch on charges of serious charges, including the sodomy of a 12th-grade student, who was eventually fired by the Supreme Court in 2008.

Siddalinga swamiji took over from Gowrishankar and became the youngest seer on March 31, 1988.

In the last six to seven years, Siddalinga Swami has served as chairman of the mutt and its educational institutions because of Shivakumar swamiji's poor health.

It is interesting to note that Siddalinga Mahaswami became the "guide" of all political leaders who sought the "blessings" of Shivakumar swamiji and the support of the powerful mutant Lingayat during the elections.

During the heights of the Veerashaiva-Lingayat controversy, Siddalinga Mahaswami kept the distance on both sides and ensured that the dog was not involved in any controversy.

Operating 125 educational institutions under the Sree Siddaganga Education Society, the dog is considered one of the richest in Karnataka, exerting considerable influence over the community of Veerashaiva-Lingayat.

However, according to a swamiji badociated with Siddaganga, there is no real monetary calculation of badets and the concept continues to rely on the concept of Dasoha (serving people with food, education and a shelter).
