After the political thriller
Nene Raju Nene Mantri in 2017 and almost in the process of directing the biopic of NTR, Teja is back with the romantic drama,
Sita with Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, Kajal Aggarwal and Sonu Sood in the lead roles.
Ram (Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas) was raised in a monastery in Bhutan, in the hope that someone he likes would come back for him. He finds different ways to deal with his trauma, one of them being his extreme sense of discipline. Sita (Kajal Aggarwal) is his extreme opposite, smart and clever, in stark contrast to Ram's innocence. She will do everything in her power to get what she wants, even if it means sacrificing morality. The local deputy Basava Raju (Sonu Sood) pursues her and covets her incessantly, pushing her without hesitation to ask for help.
The first half of
Sita attends a cat-and-mouse game between the titular character and MLA Basava, with Ram caught in the crossfire. While the tone of the first half of the film is almost whimsical in its treatment, with the song
Nijamena and
Evaradi Evaradi In particular, there are bits trailed, the game between Sita and Basava becoming a bit repetitive. However, the first half ends with a cliffhanger that makes you want to give the second half a chance. It remains to be seen if Teja can draw the narrative that he is trying to tell.
