Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and four other people were charged with allegedly cheating an event organizer, police said Sunday.

The plaintiff, a resident of Shivpuri in Moradabad , said the company had invited Ms. Sinha to participate in a distribution of awards in Delhi and that the actress had confirmed her presence but had not presented. According to the police, she paid 37 lakh, which included the transfer of a considerable sum to Ms. Sinha.
"The investigator in charge of the case had sent a notice to Sinha and the four others, but after not receiving a response, a FIR registered on Friday day," said the chief superintendent of Police (SSP), Moradabad, Ravindra Gaud.
Among the other four, there are residents of Mumbai: Abhishek, Malvika Dhumil and Edgar.
The case was registered at the Katghar Police Station
Ajeet Singh, in charge of the residence, stated that the case had been registered under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (abuse of criminal confidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
