After receiving a diagnosis of high grade cancer, Sonali Bendre spent a lot of time in New York receiving the right treatment. It also involved chemotherapy and before starting this, Sonali decided to cut her long, lustrous hair and become bald. But now that Sonali is back in India, it's the first time since she's become bald that she's had the chance to get her hair cut. The actor recently had a haircut and his hair colored too.

Sonali loves her new look and talks about this new phase. "I'm so happy that my hair has grown back, but more than anything else, all my life, I've had poker with straight hair and now there is a texture and a loop. I am so excited about it. I've always wanted volume in my hair and now that it grows, I like it. It was a bit messy when he was tall and it was time to get haircuts. I've also had some color because my hair has now grown slightly, so we did not touch the color to the scalp. We are a little cautious with that and it has brought me so much joy. When you have long hair, you are really afraid to cut it because you still want to hold it. But it was time to experiment. I will enjoy it to the maximum and try as many looks as possible. I am now going to entertain myself with my hair.

The actor talked about her fight against cancer and, while she was sharing her story to help other people, Sonali recalls the first time she had to cut herself off hair before starting chemotherapy. She said, "When I was planning to cut my hair, I did not really have a choice. I remember going to the living room to get my last shot and my friend was shooting and my sister was with me so my hairdresser realized that it was not usual. When I returned home for the big day – my hair was cut, I was waiting for my son to join me in New York because I did not want it to be a shock. I remember telling my hairstylist to shave everything but he insisted that we could shorten it and finally, I became bald a lot later. "
