South African singer becomes viral for singing six variations of Hanuman Chalisa – Watch

Johannesburg: A singer of Indian origin in South Africa conquered the hearts of Internet users by singing Hanuman Chalisa on six different musical variations. Vandana Naran, who recently published a CD containing the different versions of the song, played some live at the United Hanuman Chalisa annual meeting held in Lenasia in Johannesburg.

Bhajan groups from across the country participated in the event to sing the verse of prayer in 20-minute sessions for more than 12 hours. The 40-verse prayer was composed by Goswami Tulsidas to praise Lord Hanuman.

The singer told the PTI news agency: "We have decided to collect this CD in different versions of Hanuman Chalisa would find an appeal for different age groups."

Naran adds that the CD contains traditional and modern versions of prayer that might appeal to the elderly group and the youth, respectively. The modernized musical versions were sung with electronic music in the background. She added, "Of course, the words are exactly the same, but the interpretations are in different tunes."

Naran trained in Indian clbadical music during his childhood with his sister Jagruthi in the United States, while their father worked. there for four years. Naran has won several local singing competitions and has also produced on international stages.

After returning to South Africa, Naran focused on his vocal skills and Jagruthi on music composition, according to News 18. Their father badists them with technical recordings. The trio is also known for having translated the first South African national anthem to the world translated into Hindi.
