A young man opened fire in a Robertsganj hotel in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, injuring a man. He was tracking a Bhojpuri actress who was staying at the hotel
The young man was identified as Pankaj Yadav. He was tracking Ritu Singh, the Bhojpuri movie actress, and broke into his room at the hotel with a pistol. He reportedly held the actress hostage and threatened to marry her, according to media reports.
Members of the Bhojpuri film crew from Mumbai were staying at the hotel for a shoot during the incident.
A youth named Ashok intervened, the accused shot him. Ashok was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital
After hearing the shot, the hotel staff informed the police. A police team led by the SP immediately arrived at the scene.
Patil SP was also injured while he was trying to get in touch with Yadav and asked him to return his pistol. Yadav opened fire on the SP and a bullet went to him in the ear.
The police then overpowered Yadav and arrested him. The police investigation is ongoing.
"Pankaj went on to point the gun at Ritu and at him, he was adamant to marry him," Patil was quoted as saying by the press.
