Raise your hand if you think Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, starred in Titans in Avengers: Infinity War was where the Avengers really lost the war. Chances are the majority of fans will get together around this thing – Peter has ruined everything and the result is that Thanos could decimate half of the universe's population.
However, a new theory indicates that part of the fault attributed to Thanos is "responsible". the actions belong to Peter, but he was part of the larger plan. The result could have been much worse if he had not lost it at that time because of the death of Gamora

While Iron Man tries to lift the Infinity Gauntlet from the hands of a submissive Thanos, an emotional Star Lord strikes Mad Titan in the face, making him fall into consciousness. The reaction of Star Lord comes after learning that Thanos had killed the love of Star Lord's life, Gamora.
A new theory of Infinity War appeared Monday in the subreddit Monday of the redditor Riobhain, explaining the apparently irrational behavior of Peter. "Quill's hogwash actually prevented Thanos from killing them all," the theory says.
Here is what the theory says …
This theory will therefore serve as a basis for the presumption that I am pretty at this stage. Of course, everyone understood that Dr. Strange had a plan and acted specifically to ensure that he had achieved the unique future in which they earn.
So here is the question of the hour: why is Stephen not a strange, master of the mystical arts and well known teleportation spammer, turn away from the eyes when did Quill start having his freakout? And my theory is this: Quill's panic actually prevented Thanos from killing them all.
You're not following? Think of it this way: Thanos, with limited or no use of stone, was able to physically outstrip and dominate people as physically strong as Thor and Hulk, the first of whom we see in this same movie being strong enough to resist the force. from one star (several billion tons iirc). Now, no disrespect for Spidey, Tony, or Strange, but none of them are even in the same power range as this guy, let alone able to match him, which indicates to me that he was, for some reason, indulgent with them (EDIT: besides, he never tried to use the reality stone to dismantle them as he did with Drax and Mantis on Knowhere): either because he was trying to conserve energy for the Earth's combat, perhaps because of the theory that the Soulstone lets him feel resolved and, as a result, he will recall it unconsciously (see theories on why for which Cap managed to hold him for a while).
However, if they had to get the glove out of him, all that would change. In the first case, remember to save energy is no longer viable; after all, if they accepted the challenge or beat him because he was holding back, all would be worthless, then he would be forced to impose on them with the same level of strength as the Hulk, which I do not not. think most of them can take. In this last case, he would be separated from the stone of soul and would not have the feeling of retaining it, he would probably finish by mbadacring them all. Keeping the glove on him would be essential, either to allow him to maintain the illusion of control, or to keep him in touch with the Stone of Souls, and Quill's panic was the most convenient way to do it.
TL; DR – Thanos, capable of lifting people as strong as Thor and Hulk with brutal force and dismantling people with a thought, was probably holding back Titan, either to maintain endurance or because the Soulstone held him back. (See: theory on why Cape would hold him back at all). Removing the Gauntlet would have taken away any reason to abstain, and Quill's panic was the easiest way to defeat that plan.
