The first part of the Student of the Year franchise was released in 2012. Produced by Karan Johar under his banner Dharma Productions, the film had Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead roles.
The three newcomers all started their film career with SOTY. Alia and Varun did a lot of movies together after their debut in 2012 and now share screen space in the Kalank era drama.
