Last summer, Disney fired James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 3 after offensive comments on the filmmaker's social networks were brought back into the public sphere by right-wing commentators. Since then, a significant number of fans have called on Disney to rehire James Gunn, Edgar Wright and Chris Miller having expressed their support for Gunn's reinstatement earlier in the week. Director Taika Waititi responded to Chris Miller's post stating that he would also like to see James Gunn return to the director's chair, joking that he could bring a new energy and style that was lacking in the previous ones Guardians of the galaxy movies.

James Gunn had completed his screenplay for The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and production was to begin early next year. However, the project was suspended following the decision to remove Gunn as director of the last chapter of the trilogy, although Disney and Marvel Studios intend to use his script.

2018 pbaded too fast. It seems like it was yesterday when the beginning of the New Year was upon us, and the advent of so many superhero movies striking the theaters seemed a dream come true for every fanboy and every fangirl. It's also fun to look back and remember that although we ended up with a huge nine theater superhero movies, we had almost eleven. Unfortunately, Fox delayed Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants to 2019.
Even with these two delayed films, 2018 was still a mbadive year not only office, but for the continuous advancement of gender on several levels. Whether through the cultural significance of a film such as Black Panther or by the exciting animated adventures of Incredibles 2 and Spider-Man: Towards the Spider- Verse, the exciting stories of superheroes told on the big screen this year are not lacking.
