Tejas Express, the premium of the Indian Railways luxury train, becomes more chic! With Indian railways seeking to offer plane-like comfort in its premium trains, the Chennai Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has rolled out a new rake for the Tejas Express train. The new rake Tejas has several new features compared to the first that was introduced in 2017 by the Indian Railways. The 2017 Tejas Express train from Mumbai to Goa was manufactured by RCF, Kapurthala. Announced for the first time in the 2016 rail budget, Tejas Express trains far surpbad Shatabdi seating cars, providing many pbadenger comforts and better driving quality. The new Tejas Express rake has been awarded to Northern Railway and is expected to run on one of the two announced routes – Delhi-Chandigarh and Delhi-Lucknow.

The new Tejas Express retains its outward appearance – a design approved by the Railway Commission; with yellow and orange colors, meaning the sun. The exterior and interiors are also covered with an anti-graffiti vinyl, designed to keep the trains clean. Once inside, pbadengers will be able to sit on gray and red leatherette seats in executive coach cars or not. The coaches of the new Tejas Express have several characteristics resembling planes; custom reading lamps, attendant call buttons, modular bioaspiration toilets, WiFi on board, USB charging points with each seat, etc.

ICF Chennai manufactured a 23-car Tejas Express with 18 touring coaches, 2 executive coaches and 3 pbadenger coaches. Interestingly, unlike the Tejas Express, which had higher seats, ICF kept the seat height at the same level as the Shatabdi Express trains. "In the first Tejas Express train, the seats are great for accommodating LCD information screens. The ICF manufactured Tejas Express cars have full-size seats with well-fitted infotainment units behind each seat, without compromising the aesthetics of the interiors, "an ICF official told Financial Express Online. Notable features of the new Tejas Express include:
