Telugu TV actor Naga Jhansi reportedly committed suicide at his home in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Jhansi, 21, had been honored after his role in "Pavitra Bandhan" on MAA TV. She had also played in several movies.
Her brother, Durga Prasad, alerted the police when she did not answer the bell yesterday. After opening the door, he found her hanging from the ceiling fan.
According to the police, the actor was alone in the apartment and apparently chatting with a man shortly before his death. She had been close to the man in the last six months. The police seized Jhansi's mobile phone and examined the call data and the recordings in the chat.
Police transferred their body to Gandhi Public Hospital for autopsy and a case was recorded.
The actor's parents also say that she was in a relationship with a man who is "distantly bound" to her. Her parents apparently did not approve of her relationship and she had been depressed for a few days
In April 2018, a news anchor in Telugu had committed suicide in Hyderabad. Radhika Reddy, 36, jumped from the fifth floor of her building in the Moosapet neighborhood. She was apparently depressed after her divorce.
The police found in Ms. Reddy's bag a suicide note that indicated she was depressed and that "my brain is my enemy".
