But before this event that transformed the universe, Carol Danvers had to face only one of the stones – the stone of space. At this point in its history (the film is set in the 1990s), this particular source of cosmic energy was still contained in the cube known as Tesseract. And unsurprisingly, the appearance of Tesseract in Captain Marvel has confused some fans. Does her presence really make sense, or did Marvel have a blunder? How S.H.I.E.L.D. to get the Tesseract? How did Annette Bening's Mar-Vell get the Tesseract? Well, it turns out Captain Marvel may be taking a step back, but that makes sense in the final badysis. Let's break down the timeline of the Tesseract!

Prehistory and Asgard

The stone of space was one of six Infinity stones created long ago. As before even the universe does not exist. Eventually, the stone was placed inside the Tesseract and injured. in Asgard, where he became "the jewel of Odin's treasure room," but at one point, this powerful object was sent to Earth, where it was hidden for many generations by worshipers of Odin in Tønsberg, Norway.

Captain America: The First Avenger

In the post-generic movie scene, Goose spews the Tesseract on Fury's desk like an all-powerful cosmic cube hair ball that he is.

Thor

It seems that in the years that followed, Goose surprised the Tesseract, the Fury team continued to study it at the PEGASUS project and at the end of the credits of the first film Thor introduced the device to Dr. Selvig, asking him to help reveal the secrets. It is supposed that these warlike gods appearing on Earth made Fury think. But bringing in the scientist turned out to be a bad film, because Selvig was already under Loki's control at that time. he sent Loki to Earth to retrieve the Tesseract and the space rock inside. Thus, the Avengers were badembled for the first time!

Using the power of the Tesseract, Selvig opened a portal over New York allowing Loki's Chitauri Army to attack the Earth. But the Avengers avenged something and managed to stop the Asgardian when Black Widow used another stone of infinity – the Spirit Stone hidden in Loki's scepter – to close the portal.

Thor returned the Tesseract to Asgard shortly after the Battle of New York, but he would not stay there too long.

Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War

This brings us to Thor: Raganarok and battling the fire demon Surtur, Loki went to Odin 's treasure room where he could not get himself. to prevent a break in front of the Tesseract.
