Actress-singer Ruma Guha Thakurta died early Monday in her sleep, in her home of Ballygunge Place, cited by a family,
Ruma, 84, suffered from conditions related to the old age.
She survives two sons, including singer Amit Kumar, and a daughter of two marriages.
"She pbaded away early this morning and our family doctor confirmed that the time of her death could be between 6 and 6:15," said Ayan Guha Thakurta, her son from her second marriage.
Ruma was born in the city on November 3, 1934.

Ruma, niece of director Satyajit Ray, has worked in more than 60 films.
