The Bran Mark of the King of the Night in Game of Thrones is more than just a tracking device

The king of the night can not hide while Bran Stark is present. He was scarred by Chief White Walker who always knows where Bran is and how to get to him. And now, Jon Snow and the Winterfell team are now planning to lure King Night into a trap using Bran as bait. Only time will tell if it will work or not, but it should be noted that the Bran Night King brand in Game of Thrones is much more than a mere Bran tracker. This is probably the beginning of all this war in the first place.

Bran had originally received the mark in season 6. It happened in the same episode as Hordor died, so you would have been forgiven for having forgotten the Night King title scoring Bran. . Hodor lost his life protecting Bran from the situation. Bran captured them all thanks to his midnight night vision.

But this vision did not serve merely to allow the Night King to find Bran alone and to mark him with death, essentially. . It also reflected the end of true peace in Westeros. And yes, there was no real peace before thanks to people like Joffrey and the Freys, but they were human weaknesses. Now, these humans face a war almost impossible to win with the undead. And it's apparently because Bran and the king of the night have locked their arms.

The first image is an illustration of the pact made between humans and children of the forest. The two men had to team up to defeat the White Walkers many centuries ago, and they pledged to leave themselves alone in the future. One of the stipulations of the pact is that men would never hurt a Weirwood tree again. But in Bran's vision, there seems to be a fallen tree surrounded by the newly adopted spiral symbol of the king of nights.

If the initial pact guaranteed peace between the forest children and the men and the safety of the Weirwood trees, it would seem that Bran's unintentional pact with the king of the night is the loss of this pact. And it may be that the children of the forest make another commitment to help the men defeat the White Walkers this time too.

So, yes, Bran's brand is a sort of tracking device – but it's also a symbol of the much larger war beginning at hand. Bran said in Season 8, Episode 2 that the king of the night wanted to kill Bran for "erasing this world" since Bran retains all his memories. The mark was the promise of the king of the night that he would find Bran and would do it. Jon Snow just needs to hope that their bait change plan will outwit him. Otherwise, the world, as they know, will disappear for good.
