The first trailer of the directorial adventure of Anil Sharma, Genius starring his son, Utkarsh Sharma, in his first lead role was released. The film is marketed as the big break from Utkarsh to Bollywood.
Previously, a teaser was released for the film, which illustrated Utkarsh's growth of the adorable kid who played Jeetey in the great success of Anil Sharma, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha to the leading man that he is now. The teaser also gave a clue to the actual story of the film, which the trailer manages to flesh out.
The trailer shows Utkarsh as a budding science student (which is a bit too much in the Vedic verses and Sanskrit for his own good). relentlessly pursues the girl of her dreams, performed by Ishita Chauhan, best known for playing in the 2014 film Asha Black .
The usual hijinks ensue, before we take a 'sudden' (say, it's already been done), and we end up showing that Utkarsh was defeated by everyone's favorite actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, fresh out of some success Sacred Games . It turns out that the character of Utkarsh is a RAW agent who aims to bring down the Nawaz character. We have the usual fighting scenes, song and dance, montages holi and then we have Genius supported by Anil Sharma productions.
The trailer is not particularly new. Utkarsh ends up just oozing the typical amount of innocence, sufficiency and intensity. A bit like a mixture of Himansh Kohli of Yaariyan Himansh Kohli and of Tera Hero Varun Dhawan
Ishita herself does not have much to show in the band- announcement, and hope the current movie (or upcoming trailers, if any) will tell us if it gives us the range of action that she did in her previous movie. Nawaz is always so intense and mysterious, and no matter how much he tries to hide his face with his trench, we will always recognize that voice. The film also features Mithun Chakraborty and Ayesha Jhulka
