A ball-shaped artificial intelligence robot nicknamed the "flying brain" as it is trained to follow and interact with a German astronaut who took off on Friday to the International Space Station aboard SpaceX's Dragon cargo ship.
The robotic arm of the station, an experiment to measure plant stress and the study of a new treatment for cancer were also incorporated into the Falcon 9 rocket.

A key piece of the cargo is a waist-sized aircraft called a CIMON basketball, or Crew Interactive MObile Companion
