Srinagar: The governor of Jammu and Kashmir, NN Vohra, undertook on Saturday a tour of the capital Srinagar to have a direct view of the ground situation following the raising of the level of the Jhelum river and streams. He visited the Boulevard Road, the Jhelum River Hydraulic Gauge Center at Ram Munshi Bagh, Lasjan, and relief camps in the Rawal Pora and Ram Bagh areas for a first-hand view of Jhelum. The governor inspected the designated relief camps at the Goripora Community Center of the Department of Tourism, the Government Boys' State Secondary School in Rawal Pora and the ERA Complex in the Mall Complex at Ram Bagh. Kashmir Divisional Commissioner explained the basic facilities provided at these sites.

The Governor instructed Commissioner PHE, Department of Floods and Irrigation, to immediately ensure adequate availability of sandbags and other materials needed to immediately repair any infringement. Jhelum bundh, he said.
