Disney unveiled Monday (IST) a new teaser for live action Aladdin and removed all the problems that people had with Will Smith's human appearance as that Genie in promotional material up to now.
-Long Clip is an extension of the first original trailer. We see Aladdin enter the Cave of Wonders as the mount rises to give us a first glimpse of Princess Jasmine's tiger, Rajah. The glamor of the royal procession is counterbalanced by the darkness of Jafar's sinister projects in this little clip. But Willie Genie's avatar is the culmination of this latest installment of promotional material for director Guy Ritchie's film. Disney's official synopsis for Aladdin reads:
Aladdin's cast includes: Will Smith (Ali, Men in Black), twice nominated at the Oscars, as the genius that has the power to grant three whoever possesses his magic lamp; Mena Mbadoud (Amazon's Jack Ryan) in the role of Aladdin, the unhappy but adorable street rat who is struck by the Sultan's daughter; Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) in the role of Princess Jasmine, the beautiful daughter of the Sultan who wants to have a say in his life; Marwan Kenzari (Murder of the Orient Express) as Jafar, an evil sorcerer who conceives an evil plot to overthrow the Sultan and govern Agrabah himself; Navid Negahban (homeland) as the Sultan, the ruler of Agrabah who is eager to find a suitable husband for his daughter, Jasmine; Nasim Pedrad (Saturday Night Live) in the role of Dalia, the girl and princess Jasmine's confidante; Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods) as Prince Anders, a Skanland suitor and a potential husband for Princess Jasmine; and Numan Acar (Homeland) in the role of Hakim, Jafar's right hand man and the head of the palace guards.
This live version of the Disney clbadic is scheduled to be released in theaters in May 2019.
