Veteran singer Mohammad Aziz died on Tuesday at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. He was 64 years old. The singer lent his voice to more than 2000 film songs in Hindi, Bengali and Odia.

A great lover of veteran singer Mohammed Rafi, Aziz began singing when he was a child. After making his Bengali Jyoti debut, he moved to Mumbai and made his debut with the 1984 Hindi film Ambar. The music composer Anu Malik gave him his great success in Amitabh Bachchan-starrerr Mard, in which he sang "Mard Taangewala".

During his career, which spans over three decades, he will work with Kalyanji-Anandji, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Rahul Dev Burman, Naushad, OP Nayyar, Bappi Lahiri, Rajesh Roshan, Raamlaxman, Ravindra Jain, Usha Khanna, Anand-Milind, Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin Lalit, Anu Malik, Damodar Raao, Anand Raj Anand and Aadesh Shrivastava.

Aziz sang for several prominent actors such as Amitabh Bashchcan, Govinda, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and many others. He also sang several popular duets with Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Anuradha Paudwal and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

Some of his popular numbers include My name is Lakhan from the 1989 film Ram Lakhan, Tin Tina Tin from the 1997 film Mahaanta, Teri Bewafai Ka Shikwa, Mitwa Bhool Na Jana, Lal Dupatta Mal Mal Ka, Ae Mere Dost Laut Ke Aaja , Saawan Ke Jhoolon Ne, Chand Gagan and Phool Chaman and many others. His songs have always dominated in the '80s and early' 90s.
