The Bollywood actress, Nana Patekar, has been acquitted of the harbadment charge after the police had stated that she had not found enough evidence. The BBC reports that Patekar was accused by actress Tanushree Dutta of harbading her in 2008 on the sets of a movie in which they were both playing.
Patekar has always denied the charges.
But they resurfaced in 2018, sparking the #MeToo movement in India and leading to the recording of a new case by Dutta.
Dutta had stated that Patekar had asked for intimate dance steps between them to be included in a song – even though she had said that it made her feel uncomfortable. .
She also claimed to have threatened her when she rejected him.
She was 24 years old at the time.
According to the ANI news agency, the Mumbai police reportedly found no evidence in support of the charges. therefore "unable to continue the investigation".
