Article 15 only reported 1.25 crore on Tuesday, probably because of the India-New Zealand match, which is part of the Cricket World Cup ongoing series. Taran Adarsh, an badyst in film business, tweeted about the box-office sale, which currently raises to a crore of Rs 49.48.

The film was recently appreciated by Amul. In an illustrated ad, the iconic girl Amul and the character Khurrana stand side by side with buttered toast in their hands.
The film did not come without a lot of controversy. Recently, the Supreme Court refused to rule on a plea to quash the CBFC's accreditation and asked the petitioner to address his grievances to the relevant authority. The applicant, Brahman Samaj (India), went to the highest court to request the cancellation of the certificate issued to the film, alleging that there were unpleasant dialogues that spread rumor and hatred caste in society
The film would be vaguely based on the Badaun 2014 rape case, where two girls were allegedly raped collectively and hanged to death in a tree. Commenting on the country's caste system, the film sparked the ire of the Brahmanic community of Uttar Pradesh.
The film was banned earlier to be screened in the town of Roorkee, Uttarakhand, for reasons of public order, but the ban was later revoked. . The ban was imposed after marginal groups such as the Hindu Sena addressed the administration and claimed that the film had "slandered" the Brahman community.
A day before its release, members of various Brahman organizations had also organized demonstrations in front of the cinema in Kanpur. the projection of Article 15 alleging that it is very poorly enlightened to them.
