When Jean Gray (Sophie Turner) was first introduced in X Men: Apocalypse her enormous powers and abilities were ignored as she was described as a telepathic and a telekinesis – a lower version of Charles Xavier (James McCavoy). She was relegated to the background while the others were fighting for the fight.

Now, with Dark Phoenix Jean finally realizes his potential as a character. She was shown that she was more powerful than all the X-Men combined, especially now with the Phoenix Force that linked to her. The film is a direct adaptation of the scenario of the comic strip The Dark Phoenix Saga . In comics, Jean destroys an entire star, killing all of life on a planet, it's hard to know if that made the movie. Jessica Chastain plays the villain, an alien who guides Jean in his transformation into Dark Phoenix.

Professor X and Magneto / Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fbadbender) meet again to save John and destroy Phoenix. Jennifer Lawrence looks back on her role as a mystic. Evan Peters is in the film as Peter Maximoff – and the public may be able to see Erik discover that Peter is his son. The cast includes Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler).

Simon Kinberg turns for the first time a film with a screenplay. The events of this film take place nearly a decade after Apocalypse occurred. X Men: Dark Phoenix due in June 2019.
