Hellboy is one of those strange movies that have a lot to do, on the screen, and yet very little. This is a reboot that promises to be darker, more incisive and more bloody than the Guillermo Del Toro franchise and some visual elements that can achieve these levels, but it is an unsatisfactory whole, which does not achieve the objectives it intends to provide. 19659002] The story is as simple as the biscuit cutter. We are introduced in a prologue of the Ring Community where a former evil – a queen in this case – is defeated, but promises a return centuries later. Our protagonist then descends on earth, half evil, half good, but with the will to turn to the dark side. And if you've seen a movie about good versus evil, you'll see how the potential skirmish between Hellboy (played by David Harbor, a correct substitute for Ron Pearlman) and the evil queen (Milla Jovovich, as percussive, as always) Of course, there is a team situation here and Hellboy is collaborating with other types with supernatural abilities to counter the imminent threat.

Hellboy is directed by Neil Marshall, who directed the terrifying The Descent and some of the best action scenes from Game of Thrones – and in Hellboy he tries to combine his flair for horror and frivolous action. There are a lot of cool moments, like smashing cuts, guitar riffs, and a horde of imaginative creatures, but they're all about dressing up for stuff you just can not care about.
The film tries to seduce. the teenage crowd with F bombs, sarcastic linings and exceptional action scenes, though everything seems disproportionate, turning everything into a noisy and essentially stupid narration. To counterbalance the soulless blockbuster of the plot, the film tries to cram into the "heart" with a father-son track, but it's a grimace that makes it indiscreet. And finally, the most interesting visual of the film is a culminating dream that does not exist at its peak.

It's a film that needed to be colder than it thought. In many ways, it is reminiscent of The Seventh Son another epic of horror horror swords and sandals that has failed despite its astonishing scenery, and which has also been performed by the same studio. This is clear proof that a movie with all the elements to create a fun story could collapse at every turn, sometimes offering glimpses of a much better movie but still taking two steps back. And it's those moments that really frustrate – like the main monster of the third act that looks amazing, but disappears from the movie after a single scene; or the film witch who purges a man who looks like a snake but does not develop a character, or frog warriors who seem on the verge of destroying the house, but who are only mere substitutes
Hellboy need to settle and concentrate; that's what drives the audience to invest in content, but the director opts for the all-go-in-the-folder-and-push-the-file-in-our-throat approach.
