The authorities of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh on Friday suspended the licenses of three theaters for the projection of Lakshmi's NTR film in violation of the provisions of the Commission election of India. During the election season, the electoral authorities had not given permission to release the Lakshmi NTR in Andhra Pradesh on 1 May. However, ignoring orders, the three theaters screened the film Wednesday morning. While local tax officials reportedly issued warnings, Chief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said tough measures would be taken against theaters.
"The standard code of conduct was violated in this case. Case. The Electoral Commission issued directives against the screening of the film until further notice. However, the film was screened in some theaters of the Kadapa district in violation of the orders of the Electoral Commission and we will act against the officials, "said Mr. Dwivedi, quoted by the New Indian Express.
By order of the chief Koteswar Rao, the Kadapa district collector, ordered the officials to seize the three theaters for violating orders and the theaters would no longer be allowed to screen any film now.
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Lakshmi's NTR film was screened in Telangana and elsewhere last month, and with Yagna Shetty and Vijay Kumar in the lead, the film was at the center of controversy over its script.
