Student of Year 2 did not perform well at the box office on Sunday and raised 12.75 crores of rupees on the third day of its publication, reports Bollywood trade badyst Taran Adarsh. According to Taran Adarsh, the film's business downfall could be attributed to the final of the Indian Premier League and the sixth round of voting. The film collected 38.83 million rupees in the three days following its release. In a separate tweet, Taran Adarsh stated that, compared to previous versions of Tiger Shroff, the sort of movie was under and on it must "keep up the pace on weekdays." The Tiger Shroff Baaghi 2 had the best opening weekend. while the opening weekend collection of Baaghi stood at Rs 38.58. The pupil of Year 2 ranks third in the list. In his tweet, Taran Adarsh also said that the film could be subject to competition from De Pyaar De and by John Wick: Chapter 3 .

Student of year 2 open to largely negative criticism. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his criticism for NDTV, credits the film 1.5 out of 5 stars and writes: " Year 2 student fails every test on the parameters of manufacturing film. "
Besides Tiger Shroff, sophomore is also performed by Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria and Aditya Seal, among others. The film was directed by Punit Malhotra.
