Agents of Marvel SHIELD will finally be back for season 6 this summer, and we have a new trailer for the upcoming season share. Take a look!
The end of this new trailer will certainly thrill Marvel fans, as it seems to reveal that agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is somehow back from the dead – again. However, the last line of the voiceover dialogue seems to indicate that Coulson's memory is really very confused … again. So, is it a resurrection? A Coulson from another scenario? Or some kind of life style lure re-used as Coulson-bot? This is Agents of SHIELD so any of the above scenarios is possible. The connection established with Ghost Rider opens a window allowing Spirit of Vengeance to bring back Coulson – in a way that is not quite Coulson, while he is still him.
Recently Recently Chloe Bennet, AoS star A shot in the heart, basically confirming that Agent Coulson is dead when Season 6 begins. At the end of season 5, Coulson took his lover Melinda May and retired to SHIELD, because of the fatal prognosis of an old injury he had suffered. Coulson had promised the death penalty to the Spirit of Vengeance in order to stop Aida and was ready to accept his fate, knowing that Quake, May, Mack and the rest of his team would continue without him.
Agents of SHIELD were to finish in season 5; it was a suitable swan song for agent Coulson, giving him a complete, rich and rewarding life cycle, while leaving enough room not to disrupt the continuity of the larger Marvel cinematic universe. Now that we can see clearly that Coulson is back, there is more continuity to consider for the MCU, which will add a major plot to this new season. Although the series is clearly not directly related to MCU films, it looks somewhat like a spiritual cousin of Avengers: Endgame . The first act of Endgame will be based on the exploration of the new status quo after the death and loss of major heroic figures, before the pursuit of a cosmic pursuit. It will be the same for AoS because we learn that SHIELD is fighting without Coulson, while embarking on a cosmic race to alter a heartbreaking future through time manipulation (Fitz's death).
As always, the biggest question beyond Coulson's return will be how this new season Agents of SHIELD is connected to The Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame . What is your theory?
