When Vijay Sethupathi's first plans dressed in a pink saree and long curly hair appeared at the end of last year, enthusiastic fans were eager to see what an actor of his caliber could do in a film directed by the person behind Aaranya Kandam – The critically acclaimed director, Thiagarajan Kumaraja.
The trailer for Super Deluxe quietly released on Friday, only fuels impatience.
Long monologue comprising Sethupathi telling us the story of a man caught in a tree, with a ravine on one side and a tiger on the other. The tree branch on which he hangs turns out to be a snake and he knows he's going to die. But what happens if there is a honeycomb, with drops of honey about to fall?
As absurd as the imagery presented by the narrative is, Sethupathi's voice draws you on and makes you believe in allegorical history.
the story anyway? The trailer tells you almost nothing, except that Sethupathi wears a sari like he has worn one all his life.
The two-minute trailer is cut and edited so that you only get flashes and impressions from people. The broad shoulders of Sethupathi at the opening and the man who looks at his character from top to bottom; Samantha Akkineni with a knife; Fahadh Faasil strikes his head with extreme despair; three young boys standing up to hurt; Ramya Krishnan sensually turns her hair and much more.
The trailer is also a delirium of colors – blue window frames, yellow walls and sunrays penetrating through many planes.
