Trying to be both a STR movie and a Sundar C movie, the movie ends up being neither one nor the other

Synopsis of the movie Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven: The son of a wealthy businessman takes care of reuniting his aunt who is foreign to him with his grandfather.

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Movie Review: Vantha Rajavathaan opens with Nbader, in a role he could do while he sleeps), a wealthy businessman from Madrid, told his grandmother son Adhi (STR) whom he wished to be reunited with his daughter Nandhini (Ramya Krishnan), a role which is disappointing in the writing), whom he had driven out of their home for having married a man (Prabhu, who plays this role in the same spirit in which he pronounced the now infamous line "Enna Koduma Saravanan Idhu" to Chandramukhi) of his choice 20 years since. Adhi is coming to India and is immersed in Nandhini's house as a driver. How the young man convinces his aunt to forgive his father and reunite his family is the plot

If there is a term that could describe Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, it is obsolete. The film is a remake of the hit Telugu Attarintiki Daredi, but in reality, almost every element of its plot goes back to the commercial melodramas of the '90s. Think of Minsara Kanna, except that here the super-rich hero decides to to pbad for someone else for the love of the family rather than for the sake of love. This atmosphere only gets stronger because the director Sundar C, who made a name for herself at the time, films it with a sensitivity so clear from the 90's. We have two heroines – a traditional one (Catherine Tresa, who shakes a leg with STR in a song, but which is actually the third wheel), another modern (Megha Akash, whose performance is as minimal as his costumes), comic sidekicks (Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar and VTV Ganesh) that constantly break the fourth wall referring to the hero's past glories, a plethora of secondary characters, all of which are rather unimportant, action blocks that only exist for the hero who shows his mbad. & # 39 ;, countless songs (music is Hip Hop Tamizha) that turn out to be unexpected breaks in the bathroom and an emotional drama just to make us believe that they are characters with feelings.

There is only one stretch that looks like crazy. The popular Sundar C movies are fun … a disposable scene in which Agalya's story is reproduced and featuring STR and Yogi Babu (one of the film's saving grace). The movie needed more such ridiculously funny moments.

But the problem is that he also wants to be a showcase of STR. Although this is not necessarily bad (as Silambattam proves), the writing and the dated execution let fall. The actor, for his part, does his best by uttering percussive dialogues ("Enna nambi kettavan yaarum illa, Enna nambaama kettavan dhanan neraya per irukkan") and amusing the actors to pull their legs (in a scene, the actor then wondering why should not play in movies, VTV Ganesh will retort that it will not be easy because he will have to go to shoot in time). But there is not much star power that can be saved in a weak script. By trying to be both a STR film and a Sundar C movie, the film ends up being neither one nor the other.
