Since 2016, Akshay Kumar's career is at its height. The superstar was a success after the other. His last flop was Singh's Bliing was released in 2015 and since the release of Airlift in 2016, Akshay has delivered 9 hits in a row, with his latest film Kesari . (crore of 152.48 rupees) proving to be his biggest fatter (though 2.0 with Rs 189.55 his collection is his biggest villain but it's not really a Hindi movie).

After Kesari, his line-up of films is quite interesting with Good news, Housefull 4, Mangal Mission, Sooryavanshi, Prithviraj Chauhan and the latest addition to the list is a horror comedy Lakshmi. A remake of the Tamil hit Muni 2: Kanchana (2011), Lakshmi will see the character of Akshay Kumar possessed by the ghost of a transgender and himself focusing mainly on revenge.

Like the original, the Hindi remake will also be piloted by Raghava Lawrence. For those who do not know, Raghava Lawrence also plays the lead role in the original films. Although the scenario is more or less the same, the designers have opted for a major change in the Hindi remake scenario. In the original, the main character is afraid of ghosts, but in the Hindi version, the character of Akshay will be a non-believer of supernatural elements.

A mid-day report said, according to a source close to the creative team,

While the premise remains the same, Akshay's character has been described as who does not fear not the supernatural. The decision makers also reworked the story to create a meaty role for Kiara Advani, who plays Akshay's wife. In the original film, the hero's mother and sister-in-law have essential roles. In Hindi, the sequence in which the character of Akshay is possessed by a ghost – the turning point of history – will take place at Kiara. His character will play a crucial role in his exorcism. Finally, Akshay will be possessed by a ghost – that of transgender Lakshmi – and not by three ghosts as in the Tamil film.

The filming should begin this month.
