Varma case on a censorship card,

[ad_1]

Nonconformist filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma confirmed today that he was going to file a lawsuit against the Censor Board to limit his freedom of expression. The CBFC having at least refused to watch the film until the completion of the first phase of the elections, the filmmaker is upset.

In a statement, Varma revealed that the CBFC did not have the right to say that she would not even start the Lakshmi NTR certification process before the end of the elections. He stated that the censorship commission must watch the film and then decide on the certificate, but is not legally allowed to refuse to watch the film itself. Varma says that it is nothing but blatant pre-censorship.

Varma also cites the Padmaavat case, in which plaintiffs want to prevent the film from being broadcast by asking Censor Board not to certify it and that director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali is challenging it in the Supreme Court. At the time, Bhansali won the lawsuit.

We have to see where the NTR Lakshmi case is going now.
