The farmers' crisis and unemployment were constant problems in previous elections. How is the Congress campaign different this time?
The situation in Rajasthan has never been as gloomy as during the five years of the Raje government, with 165 deputies and a clear majority in the center. Unfortunately, she took the mandate for granted. The main problems of population development have been completely ignored. She made 611 promises, but virtually none of them has been fulfilled. These problems are fairly repetitive, but the current agrarian crisis has never been seen by the state. For the first time in the history of Rajasthan, 150 farmers have committed suicide. Unemployment is acute.
It is a very young state, we have a lot of energy and talent. But four young people who commit suicide because of lack of jobs break everything. Raje betrayed Rajasthan's mandate. The state aspires to change. On the other hand, the story of the congress is positive. We are not only exposing the mistakes of the BJP or those responsible, we are also establishing a five-year plan to enable Rajasthan to free itself from the debt burden it is currently facing.

What is the party's five-year plan?
The agrarian crisis and the financial situation of farmers will be solved. These are not just credits and loans; it's also access to the market, the availability of funds and resources. For example, there is an acute shortage of urea in Rajasthan. The farming community as a whole has collapsed, so it is necessary to reorganize the ecosystem. The second problem concerns young people looking for a job. When you have a doctorate or master's degree and are applying for a Category 4 government worker job, it means you are underemployed.
Underemployment and unemployment are issues that we will address. Our manifesto will also deal with many other things. We are not trying to allow the state to dispose of all its badets, as Raje did. It advertises schools and hospitals according to the PPP (public-private partnership) model. If a government can not provide education and health care, it does not deserve to be in power.
You recently stated that funds allocated to education should be considered an investment and not an expense. How does the Congress plan to invest in education when it is vested with power?
Education is an investment because when you write a check, you invest in the future. Yields are much higher than expected because future generations will benefit from knowledge, wisdom, opportunity and self-confidence. Education decimates social ills. So you do not invest only in young children so that they can find a job, but you also invest to make them better citizens. We will certainly restructure what Raje has destroyed and put the emphasis on education.
Why would not a public school be as good as a private school? Why are not all schools Navodaya Vidyalaya or Kendriya Vidyalaya? It's possible but it takes effort. I know history is against us, but if the will is firm, and if conviction and conviction are strong, there is no reason why we can not have a better education system than anywhere else in the country.
The BJP introduced several systems, including Internet-based systems. What does Congress intend to do regarding these systems?
The programs themselves are not fake, but look at the Bhamashah project. The yojana is actually a failure because it was taken over by a cartel of corrupt people. There are groups formed of hospitals, brokers and individuals. Insurance companies have withdrawn from the plan. The program looks great but its implementation is far from satisfactory. BJP is very good at announcing things, changing names and renaming programs, but its implementation is almost nil. There is no delivery.
What is your point of view on Tonk's challenge, instead of your traditional Ajmer siege? Who would you suggest as the chief ministerial candidate if Rahul Gandhi asked you, as president of the Rajasthan Congress?
Rahul asked me to challenge the elections and I left the decision to the party. I dispute where Congress thinks that my candidacy is the one that brings the greatest benefit. I gladly accepted the decision. Once we have a majority, MPs and Congress will decide who will do what. This is the norm. We do not declare the faces of the chief ministers, we fight the elections, we get the majority and the deputies elect their leader. Congress does not make this designation.
You say that you have created the party in the state in recent years, which has resulted in the recent victory of bypoll. How did you do it and how will this strategy work now?
The party has made sustained efforts for five years. All our leaders contributed to it. We have been campaigning for five years. Prakash Javadekar, Amit Shah and Narendra Modi have all discovered Rajasthan recently. They never knew that the country existed when there were floods, riots, rapes, murders and lynchings of mobs. Where were all these top leaders in those five years? Now that the elections are here, they are all asking for votes.
What I did as a party chairman, is campaigning from the first day. I did not want to wait for the outgoing anti-president to intervene, as this is not an badet, it's the people's responsibility. I can not base my campaign and my story on this negativity. It takes more than six months to create space in the hearts and minds of people. We were arrested, accused, we held dharnas gatherings, padyatras and all we could do to keep the movement of farmers and young people, and we took the power. BJP. Although the BJP has a majority, it can not do what it wants.
Do you think that the "third front" of Hanuman Beniwal and Ghanshyam Tiwari will have an effect on the overall congressional vote share?
Rajasthan is a bipolar state. In each election, there are one or two parties and independents, but it is largely an election between the Congress and the BJP. I do not see this election different. There are smaller parties and they have their own space. It's a BJP contest against Congress, and I do not see any third, fourth or fifth fronts coming into play and having a lasting impact on the results.
They can make headlines and grab news time with catchy statements, but state people know that it's the congress that will win. Voters in Rajasthan are smart, they will not waste their votes for religion, community or any other front. These small parties suddenly multiplied a month before the elections; there is no agenda, history or future.
