Box office: Vicky Surpbades Varun – here's how

Exceed all expectations, calculations and estimates, Uri: The Surgical Shot led by Vicky Kaushal, entered the Rs 150 crore club on the 17th day at the box office. The total collection of the war movie, written and directed by Aditya Dhar, stands at Rs 157.38 crore, which is phenomenal to say the least.

In Vicky's film career, which began nearly three and a half years ago, Uri: The Surgical Strike is a landmark event. In such a short period of time, the hatching actor has a credit of Rs 150 to his credit, which is quite an achievement.

You'd be surprised to know that Vicky's senior, Varun Dhawan, is one of many Bollywood actors who have not yet delivered their first salary of 150 crores. In fact, Akshay Kumar only joined the club last year with the Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 which raised Rs 189.55 during his lifetime. But it should be noted that 2.0 was a two-man movie and therefore its success can not be attributed to Akshay, unlike that of Uri: The Surgical Strike which is very similar to Vicky's series

Uri: The Surgical Strike ] based on the 2016 surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army against terrorist throwers in Pakistan through the LOC, also has important roles: Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina, Kirti Kulhari and Rajit Kapur.

The film, funded by Ronnie Screwvala under the film production banner of RSVP Movies, was screened on January 11th for mixed criticism.
