A supermodel from Victoria's Secret filed a lawsuit against a California hotel claiming that bedbugs had "slaughtered" him during a visit, according to reports.
Sabrina Jales St. Pierre alleged in a lawsuit that a 2016 stay at the Palm Desert Embbady Suites left her with insect bites that had a negative impact on her modeling career, reported the Desert Sun .
The Brazilian model – who worked for Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Valentino – sued the Palm Desert Hotel for pecuniary and punitive damages.
His lawyer, Brian Virag, said his client had met bed bugs the first night of her stay at the Hilton-owned hotel, and that "she was finally slaughtered with bites covering just about all her body.
"Like most bedbug victims, Sabrina has also had nightmares about the experience, and she still suffers from psychological trauma and fear of bed bugs today." ", said Virag to the newspaper. "This has been particularly traumatic for Sabrina because her body is her job, so it has severely affected her work and career."
The lawsuit filed in Riverside County Superior Court claimed that she had suffered a severe bites reaction that required "extended treatment".
Her modeling concerts would also have been affected since she was "embarrbaded, shameful and humiliated" about insect bites, according to her lawyer.
The hotel's general manager, Carlos Mendoza, denied any allegation that the hotel would not have taken the necessary precautions to fight the pests, the Desert Sun reported.
"The comfort, health and safety of our customers are the most important," said Mendoza. "Our experience with bed bugs is that people travel with them and take them to hotels, and once in our rooms we take corrective action."
