The Minister of Finance, Piyush Goyal, announced in the 2019 budget that only one authorization desk was made available to Indian filmmakers, hitherto reserved for teams of foreign teams. The time required to obtain permission to shoot in exotic and heritage locations on Indian soil will be significantly reduced
Goyal added that an anti-registration provision would be introduced into the cinematography law to fight against piracy. It is a huge step against the problem of piracy which Tamil cinema in particular is facing and which is dramatically affecting the collections of a film.
