The first look of Vijay Sarkar's upcoming film was launched in the middle of the fanfare on Thalapathy's birthday. The first poster saw an elegant Vijay brandishing a black cigarette with a skyscraper background. However, he has received criticism for "promoting" smoking. The former health minister, Anbumani Ramadoss, had already criticized the poster in a tweet. "You'll look more stylish without this cigarette. #SmokingKills #SmokingCancerCauses," he wrote. In another tweet, he said, "Shame on the actor Vijay to promote smoking in this first look of his next movie. #ActResponsibly #DoNotPromoteSmoking." However, it now appears that the Tamil Department of Health Nadu sent notifications to Vijay and AR Murugadoss.
According to media reports, policymakers have been warned that legal action will be taken if images are not removed. Apart from Vijay, Sarkar also plays Keerthy Suresh, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Yogi Babu among others. The film will be interpreted by AR Rahman, marking the first collaboration of AR Murugadoss with Mozart of Madras in Tamil. Sarkar will be published on Sreekar Prasad's table and will have cinematography by Girish Gangadharan. Sarkar is Vijay's third film with AR Murgadoss after Thuppaki and Kaththi, both of whom were blockbusters. Sarkar is expected to hit the screens this Diwali.
