Visitors watched in horror as the lion dragged an unidentified man to Chhatbir Zoo on Sunday. He was mutilated to death by a lion and a lioness.

A video of the incident filmed in a bus carrying visitors to Lion Safari shows the lion dragging the remote man.

Petrified by the show, these are the bus, among them women and children, who shouted for help, but to no avail.

The man had entered Lion Safari by climbing a 25-foot wall and, as soon as he pbaded, he was attacked by two lions.

The wound on his neck was deep. He was taken to the civilian hospital of Dera Bbadi, in critical condition where he died.

Authorities formed a team to investigate the incident.

"We have formed a team of five people to investigate the incident, will find out how this incident occurred and what the motive was for the man, and suggest measures to be taken. take to prevent such incidents in the future, "said Zoo Field Director, Mr. Sudhagarb.

"He will also investigate the shortcomings of any zoo official," he said, adding that the team would report within five days.

Sudhagarb said that the lion and lioness who had killed the man were being watched.

"They will stay in observation for two to three days to check for any change in behavior," he said.

Authorities also planned to place more security guards in and around the zoo, and to install more CCTV cameras.

"We want to close the visibility portion of the lion safari enclosure wall.we want a permanent security team near the safari lion to monitor the vulnerable spots," said Sudhagarb.

When he was contacted by the Zirakpur Police Station, Inspector Gurjeet Singh indicated that the identity of the deceased was not yet established.
