Katherine Helmond, Emmy-nominated actress and Golden Globe winner, played two very different matriarchs on ABC Who's the Boss sitcoms? and Soap, is dead, announced Friday his artistic agency. She was 89 years old.
Helmond died of Alzheimer's disease last Saturday at his home in Los Angeles, APA reported in a statement. Originally from Galveston, Texas, Helmond has credits dating back to the 1950s. She was nominated for Emmys during the four seasons of the series and won the Best Actress award in a Golden Globe comedy in 1981. Helmond continued to work for over 80 years, primarily as a singer, especially as Model T Lizzie in Pixar Cars movies.

She leaves to mourn her husband David Christian, her half-sister Alice Parry and many nephews and nieces, according to her agency's statement.
