– Although Zack Ryder never announced his participation in the man's Royal Rumble Match, the WWE creative team originally planned to invite the raw superstar to participate in the annual 30-man contest. Vince McMahon however decided the day before the show to replace Ryder by Kurt Angle.
Angle participated in the Royal Rumble Match Men at No. 4 and was eliminated about three minutes later by Shinsuke Nakamura.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Angle was treated afterwards because his entry and elimination places were originally intended for Ryder.
McMahon opts for change because he thinks Angle will receive more pop than Ryder.
