The life of Chelsea Houska is finally stable. After years of back and forth with little dad Adam Lind, Chelsea is finally in a relationship of love and support. The fans fell head over heels in love with Cole DeBoer, who has established himself as an outstanding father, not only for the children he shares with Houska, but also for his nine-year-old daughter, Aubree.
Now everyone is looking forward to the day Cole officially adopts the Spunky Tween. Fans will have to calm down however. While Cole said he was going to jump on the opportunity to be the legal father of Aubree, the family of five left the decision to Aubree, and she has not yet quite adhered.
Aubree is not yet in legal adoption
Aubree, 9, has a rather complicated relationship with his father, Adam Lind. Although Lind is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with Aubree, his parents have the right to visit. Recently, fans saw Cole rushing to pick up Aubree on a scheduled visit to his grandparents when Adam showed up at the family's home. In January 2019, fans saw Chelsea take Aubree to a supervised access center to meet Adam. According to Inquistr Lind did not show up at the meeting, leaving Aubree feeling hurt.
While Aubree has a father-daughter relationship with
Chelsea's husband, Cole, the 9-year-old introspective is not ready to give up
hope on his father. When asked if she wanted to be adopted legally,
Aubree asked if his father would still be his father. When says no,
Adam would no longer be his father in the legal sense of the term, she refused the offer.
Adam Lind has surrendered his rights to his second daughter,
Paislee
In 2018, Lind relinquished parental rights to his daughter, Paislee Mae. Taylor Halbur, Paislee's mother, has been to Lind for many years. The couple welcomed a child together in 2014, but the relationship did not last long. In 2017, Halbur married Joe Leonard. According to Starcasm Lind would have had the opportunity to relinquish his parental rights, thus facilitating the adoption of Paislee.
Lind's first mom, Houska, insisted that she would like Cole to adopt Aubree, but she notes that the bigger picture is a bit more complicated than Paislee's. As Aubree regularly attends Linds' parents and is older, the adoption process causes more emotional distress. Houska noted on Teen Mom 2 that Aubree had trouble understanding what Paislee's adoption meant. She asked Houska if Paislee was still his sister or not.
