Iran has arrested a number of people for posting videos on Instagram, including a young woman whose targeting for her excerpts from her dance to music has elicited outrage.
According to activists, Maedeh Hojabri, who appears to be in her teenage late teens, was one of the many users behind the popular Instagram accounts that were arrested. The identity of the other detainees has not been confirmed.
His story, which was suspended, would have had more than 600,000 followers.
Hojabri has since appeared on a public television show with other detainees, in which she and others have done what activists claim to be forced confessions, a tactic often used by authorities Iranian.
Public television showed a young woman, her face blurred, crying and trembling while describing her motivation to produce the videos. it was not to attract attention, "she said. "I had followers and these videos were for them, I had no intention of encouraging others to do the same … I did not work with a team, I I did not get any training, I only do gymnastics. "
Little is known about the personal life of Hojabri or his city of Iran, but since his arrest his videos were shared by hundreds of people, giving him a reach beyond his account. They seem to have often been caught using a camera in her bedroom while she was dancing on pop and western music without wearing a hijab, which is needed in public.
