The February 25th episode of Monday Night Raw was one of the most explosive shows WWE has produced all year. Roman Reigns had come back to announce that his cancer was in remission and the WWE Universe had even seen the Superman hitting 3 different wrestlers. Becky Lynch was taken away by police for violating her 60-day suspension; Ronda Rousey entered the Women's Under-20 Championship under Stephanie McMahon to protest Becky's suspension. And if that was not all, the WWE Universe was witnessing the long-awaited return of a former world champion
In a scene straight out of the cinema, Batista (Dave Bautista) returned to the company with revenge. WWE celebrated Ric Flair's 70th birthday and called a crowd of former superstars to pay homage to the WWE Lord, 16 times more respectful. Sting, Kurt Angle, the Ricky Steamboat "The Dragon", Shawn Michaels, and Stephanie and Triple H. were in the ring. However, Flair was not found when reading his music.
We saw that Batista had returned and destroyed Flair in his room. Batista dragged Flair out of his dressing room and forwarded a message to Triple H. Batista looked into the camera and said, "Hey, Hunter, do I have your attention now?"
But why is a great superstar back home? a heel? Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio provided an answer. Meltzer stated that Batista's plan and his desire to be the villain instead of Triple H.
"So Hunter is the face of the war. Unbelievable. Ok, I know, because of what happened last time, that Dave probably insisted on being the heel, but I mean that Hunter is the one everyone wants to be the heel.
Batista has always maintained that a return match at WrestleMania against Triple H is something that he really wants to do before retiring. Now he can finally fulfill his wish as the two WWE veterans head to a WrestleMania 35 match at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on April 7th.
When Batista returned to the WWE in 2014 as a babyface, fans treated him like a villain and shamefully booed. He finally left the company a few months later, but this whole ordeal left a bad taste in the mouths of both sides. Batista openly criticized the creative team's decision to bring him back to the face.
