WWE WrestleMania 35 recap, notes
Middleweight Championship – Tony Nese def. Buddy Murphy (c) took the win to win the title (Kickoff Show): Talk about the perfect way to get things done at the launch event with this overflowing energy billboard. Nese scored his surprise with a win that could mean that a call-up is in Murphy's future after a memorable six-month reign. The match perfectly matches 205 Live's aerial artistic talent and the cruiserweight division with the hard hitter often seen in Japan. Murphy quickly had a cut over his left eye and Nese nearly scored a goal early after an impressive springboard jump from the apron. Nese continued to impress the wolves and the 450 corkscrews, each being able to fire only two shots. The end came after Nese was able to extend his foot up the rope so as not to lose after being touched by Murphy's law. Nese immediately returned with a German suplex from Murphy in the second turnbuckle and a knee in the corner for 1-2-3. If it's time for the WWE to give Murphy more to do, the Australian looks ready. Grade: B +
Carmella wins the Women's Royal Battle (Kickoff Show): For the small fanfare or expectations that this match had to come , the good news is that The match was not a train wreck. Ember Moon came back successfully after a six month break and connected with an eclipse of the top rope on Mandy Rose with two other knives. The Riott team has received numerous bookings and has teamed up with a series of eliminations until Dana Brooke rallies to eliminate Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott. Logan seemed to have won the match after successively eliminating Sonia Deville and Asuka, but Carmella plunged back into the ring from where she was hiding and eliminated Logan with a great kick. Grade: C
Tag Team Championship – Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins def. Tomb Awakening to Win the Titles (Kickoff Show): It may not have been Brock Lesnar to upset The Undertaker five years ago, but the epic of a Hawkins' other kind ended dramatically in his backyard. Hawkins, whose losing streak ran from 0 to 269, joined his New York compatriot at Ryder to create a completely WrestleMania moment. The fight against the bottom from end to end, while Revival relied on traditional tactics to double the team and distract the referee, the duo of the oppressed could rally after a series of big gestures that led to the arrival. Ryder's super attempt on Wilder made them swing onto the top rope, Ryder banging his head against the apron. Dawson then hit Hawkins with a brainbuster on the floor. However, after a series of almost late falls, Hawins placed Dawson in the foreground. The duo, formerly known as Major Brothers, took over the label for the first time in more than a decade. Rank: C +
Braun Strowman wins the royal battle of Andre the Giant (Kickoff Show): Despite a somewhat awkward construction for this match, Featuring a quarrel between Strowman and a pair of "Saturday Night Live" stars, the award has proven to be a high-quality comedy and fun activity. Colin Jost and Michael Che, hosts of the NBC program's "Weekend Update" segment, ran off and hid under the ring at the opening bell. The previous match was a good mix of points and difficult eliminations, including Strowman sending Luke Harper and Ali over the deck while Harper, who was playing his first televised match in seven months, was trying a suplex. Late in the game, Andrade stormed Apollo Crews, which accidentally eliminated both. While Strowman mingled with the Hardy Boyz, the SNL stars came back without success to eliminate it from behind. Strowman, who set a match record for the eliminations, threw Matt and Jeff Hardy before stopping a fearful Che of a self-elimination just to knock him off the apron. Jost, who played the role of heel by wearing the jersey of the former New York Giants star at Cleveland Browns, was hoisted and thrown on a crowd of wrestlers on the outside to end the match . Grade: B
WrestleMania host, Alexa Bliss, presents Hulk Hogan: Bliss opens the show and tells the crowd that she hold them in the palm of his hand and can create a moment WrestleMania with the snap of his fingers. When she did that, Hogan's music hit and he cut his normal promo, jokingly calling the Pontiac Silverdome before actually making a mistake and calling the MetLife Center.
World Championship – Seth Rollins def. Brock Lesnar (c) by Tomb to Win the Title: Once the opening segment ended, Paul Heyman Power walked to the ring and declared that if Lesnar was not the main tournament, he fought first and left New York to leave. jump on a plane to Las Vegas where he is "finally appreciated". This surprise match was as violent as it was short. It was also well booked. Lesnar jumped on Rollins even before reaching the ring and made a long series of beats before the start of the match, which included a ground F5 and several shots in the ring barrier and over the table. some announcements. Rollins, whose back was covered with swollen red spots, ended up using a low blow to change gears after three consecutive German suplexes after the bell had finally rung. Rollins rallied to hit a trio of Stomp and get the surprise win as Lesnar sold the wounds in the center of the ring for a long time. As in the main event of WrestleMania 31 four years ago, Rollins ended up giving up the title at the top of the ramp. The clean and decisive finishing of the finish suggests that Lesnar, who has just suffered his second loss for more than two years at the WWE, will take an extended break to return to UFC for a victory against the heavyweight Daniel Cormier in August. Grade: B-
AJ Styles def. Randy Orton via pinfall: Styles may have had to wait until age 38 to debut at WrestleMania, but the "Phenomenal One" continues to build an impressive resume on the brightest stage. Although not necessarily an instant clbadic, this encounter between great people of all time told a sacred story. Styles was lucky enough to avoid a trio of RKO attempts throughout the match, until Orton finally managed to defeat his much-vaunted opponent, but only at what Styles got himself up to. launches dramatically. Styles clinched the match's place when he connected to the ground with a phenomenally rigid forearm. On the way back to the ring, Styles' attempt on another forearm was thwarted by RKO's attempt by Orton. Styles, however, pushed him off with a puzzle on the ropes and followed with a perfect forearm finisher. Grade: B
Smackown Team Championship – The Usos (c) def. The Bar (via pinfall), Ricochet & Aleister Black and Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura retain titles: Having been the subject of further reflection to obtain a number of big names on the map, this one turned out to be frantic fun deal. A number of well-managed comic spots were also integrated, including a very long Cesaro swing at the center of the ring on Ricochet, while Sheamus clinched 10 beats of Bodhran successively. Former NXT champions, Ricochet and Black, appeared to be about to win the title after Black kicked out the ring and Ricochet scored his 630 splash on Sheamus until all four members remaining jump at the same time to break the pin. After a series of delirious strikes late in the middle of the ring, Sheamus ate a pair of super-kicks from the Usos until Jey and Jimmy clinched their tandem goal to defend themselves. Grade: B +
Shane McMahon def. The Miz by Tomb (Falls Count Anywhere): As for car wrecks, this one was a masterpiece of art. Not only has The Miz sparked enough hatred and aggression to protect his father from McMahon, but the creative use of the stadium for the stipulation of the match has proven brilliant. One of the first moments saw Miz's father, George Mizanin, cross the barricade to stand above his son to keep McMahon out of the top rope. Mizanin also entered the ring to put himself in McMahon's face and, after he was laughed at, he was trampled and punched in the corner. The action moved exclusively outside the ring, with McMahon only getting two after a DDT on a lighting platform. The two men fought violently in the crowd and headed for the international announcements table, McMahon being thrown on a railing and on top of a golf cart behind it. After the duo climbed a scaffold, McMahon is slender to an overwhelming finale. McMahon asked for clemency and excused himself after the two men had climbed to the top of a large camera platform. Miz took McMahon for a suplex of the scaffolding platform and on what appeared to be a padded area underneath. Not only was the venue one of the most visually impressive in WrestleMania history, but the impact of the move meant The Miz was at the bottom, allowing the referee to count Pin for McMahon. Grade: A-
Women's European Team Championship – The IIconics def. Boss & # 39; N Hug Connection (c) [via pinfall] Beth Phoenix & Natalya and Nia Jax & Tamina to win the titles: Fun spots and a surprise arrival made this match a sneaky match while creating a "iconic" moment in the process for Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Natalya has placed many fun moments at the same time that Sasha Banks and Bayley have been placed in the sniper. Later, Snuka and Jax combined to create two Samoan doubles Drops on the Iconics. But it was the finish that made this match a rather chaotic match, including a particular attention to the smallest details. After Phoenix hit an incredible Glam Slam on Bayley at the top rope, Royce ran to break the pin and knock Phoenix out of the ring. Kay, who had hit the back of Phoenix just as she jumped from the top rope, came sliding to steal the pin while the crowd grew enormously for the young Australian duo. Rank: B
WWE Championship – Kofi Kingston def. Daniel Bryan (c) managed to win the title: After 11 long years, there is no problem for Kingston, the only paradise. The WWE veteran and one-third of The New Day members have won an inspiring victory for all ages and crowned an incredible number of stories after an improbable and natural offer. Crowning Kingston as the second African-American champion of the WWE in the history of this promotion was certainly not announced yet two months ago, but the combination of performances in the Kingston ring and unwavering support from the crowd made the right choice. make. From the irony of Kingston having had a similar scenario to Bryan's in 2014 against Bryan himself in the old-school way of this game, the crowd lives and dies with every dramatic turn.
Kingston ends up fighting a long and debilitating one. LeBell Lock tries to Bryan to provoke a frenzy among the crowd. He inverted Bryan in a floor sequence and delivered it before giving him the favor a few moments earlier by holding his arms and giving him a ruthless kick in the face. Kingston was lined up and hit his Trouble in Paradise finisher to trigger a fireworks display in the stadium soon after the match. The celebration sequence was one of the most memorable in recent history as Kingston's two sons joined him, with Xavier Woods and Big E, in the center of the ring. Grade: A-
United States Championship – Samoa Joe (c) def. Rey Mysterio via bid to retain the title : Any 16-match card will require a squash or two to keep the show going. The good thing about this event was that it further reinforced the dominance of Joe's heel. The short match was full of action as Mysterio picked up a 619 and held a splash on the top rope. But Joe was able to catch it in full flight and sit down Mysterio. He applied Coquina Clutch and sat down for quick tapping. Recent injuries to Mysterio have probably created the need for a quick match. Grade: C-
