The show saw another new entry in the form of Pankhuri Awashty after the jump of 5 years and now replaces Deblina in the show by actress Simran Khanna who will join the show as a Gayu, the sister of Shivangi Joshi's character, Naira. Deblina left the show because she did not want to be a mother on the screen
Simran is known for her roles in Sanyukt, Kis Desh Hand Hain Meraa Dil, etc., and was last seen in Paramavatar Shri Krishna. Asked about her intention to join the show, the actress said she was happy to be part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She also added that it was a big show and that she was looking forward to playing Gayu because she is a nice and positive character. She will be seen in front of Samir Onkar aka Samarth Goenka in the series. Another new couple in the series could be a good addition.
