US Attorney General Grant Jaquith said he pleaded guilty this week for causing damage to computers belonging to the College of St Rose.
Akuthota, who will be sentenced in August, admitted that on February 14 he had inserted a "USB Killer" device into 66 computers, as well as numerous computer-enhanced monitors and podiums, owned by Albany College.

The device "USB Killer", when it is inserted into the USB port of a computer, sends a command that quickly charges the built-in capacitors of the computer and then discharges them repeatedly, which overload and physically destroys the USB port and the electrical system of the computer.

Akuthota admitted that he had deliberately destroyed computers and had registered using his iPhone, including making statements such as "I will kill this man" before inserting the "USB Killer" in the USB port of the computer.

He also admitted that his actions had caused more than $ 58,470 in damages and agreed to pay an equivalent indemnity to the college.
