The Indianapolis Colts and RB Nyheim Hines have agreed to a three-year extension until 2024, agents Ed Wasielewski and Jeremy Appledorf of EMG Sports told ESPN.

The deal is worth an average of $ 6.2 million, making Hines one of the 10 highest-paid running backs in the NFL – and making the most money a year for any non-lead backs.

Hines has 170 catches in his first three seasons, sixth among all running backs in that streak. He’s also averaging 14.9 yards per punt return, which would rank number one in NFL history.

Hines becomes the third member of the Colts’ 2018 Draft to earn overtime this offseason, joining linebacker Darius Leonard and offensive tackle Braden Smith. This class also includes All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, who would likely sign a record-breaking deal among the guards when / if an overtime is ultimately made.
